What is Computer Science?
While ICT is focussed on using computers and software to process information and communicate with people, Computer Science is the study of how the hardware components inside the computer work, and how software is created to take advantage of this hardware.
It is a subject which focusses heavily on problem solving, abstraction and logical thinking, teaching how pieces of hardware can be used to solve problems using a variety of languages and techniques.
Why study Computer Science?
While not everyone might want a career programming computers or designing hardware, the skills learnt in the subject are transferable to almost any subject. Because you learn new ways to approach problems and learn how to break them down into small units, you will find your ability to solve problems in any area improves.
